International rail operator Eurostar has agreed the extension of its contract with DMD for a further 2 years, until January 2019. The contract covers both our Newspaper & Magazine and Onboard Entertainment services.
The entertainment component follows on our success in that area with Virgin Trains and Virgin Trains East Coast in the past year, and reinforces our position as Europe’s market leader in digital content services for rail.
Over the next 3 years Eurostar is introducing 17 new e320 trains into its fleet and carrying out a programme of refurbishment to its original trains. It also commences high speed rail operations between London and Amsterdam taking just 4 hours 40 minutes via a change in Brussels.
Our exclusive services to Eurostar include provision of printed and digital newspapers and magazines, for their Business Premier lounges and onboard – where we also manage provision of a streamed entertainment offer that delivers movies, TV content and HTML5 browser games to passenger devices.
New Paris business lounge opens
The renewal comes as Eurostar unveils its state-of-the-art new Business Premier lounge in Paris Gare du Nord. With business passengers increasingly choosing high speed rail over plane, valuing the seamless journey and ability to work pre-travel and onboard, the new lounge offers a stylish, comfortable environment for both working and relaxing.
DMD are providing both printed digital and printed publications for the new lounge.
Eurostar is a high-speed railway service connecting London with Avignon, Brussels, Lille, Lyon, Marseille and Paris. All its trains traverse the Channel Tunnel between the United Kingdom and France, owned and operated separately by Eurotunnel.
