Congratulations to our friends at Virgin Trains on the launch this week of their ground-breaking entertainment portal, BEAM.
BEAM provides free onboard entertainment for customers, including around 200 hours of movies and TV, in a launch line-up featuring The Wolf of Wall Street, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Despicable Me 2 and box sets including House of Cards, Peaky Blinders, Simply Nigella and Peppa Pig.
The BEAM selection of digital newsstand magazines includes Newsweek, Men’s Health, Top Gear, Total Film, Hello, Grazia, Living Etc., Ideal Home and Marie Claire.
DMD is proud to be the appointed service provider for all BEAM content, managing movies and TV titles, digital magazines and an array of HTML5 browser games that passengers can play on their own devices.
“This is a terrific business development for us”, said DMD Managing Director Designate Paul Rayson.
“Extending our digital service to both Virgin Trains and its sister operation Virgin Trains East Coast consolidates us as the premier content provider to rail operators in Europe, if not the world.
“We greatly appreciate the opportunity to help launch such an innovative and valuable PaxEx solution, and we wish them every success with it.”
BEAM is now available on all Virgin Pendolino services on its West Coast route and will be rolled out across all Virgin Voyager services in coming months.
To access the world class entertainment customers simply download the BEAM app from Apple or Android stores before they board, either at home or via free station WiFi.
Patrick McCall, Co-Chairman for Virgin Trains, said, “The new BEAM app will make our passengers’ journeys fly by, feeling like they’ve arrived at their destinations before they know it.”
